ATT Passport Plans

Has anyone tried out the new ATT Passport Plans for traveling outside the US.

Normally we rent a Mifi - but Im wondering if this may be cheaper and easier..... As the mifi is about $15 a day and you pay for all the days of your trip (even the days we are still in the US) including a day or 2 before departure to insure you receive the device in time.

BUT I'm nervous about having my phone not on airplane mode while outside the US and the data that just gets pushed to my phone.

Im not really interested in the talk as much as the text and wifi capabilities they say it offers.

Our summer plans include time in Canada (Nova Scotia, PEI, and Montreal)

Any advice???
