Arriving in Calgary - Then to Glacier NP, MT

I don't know if I should be concerned or not.

My plans are to arrive in Calgary Aug 4 and immediately drive south on Rt 2 to Glacier NP in Montana.

After a week the plan is to drive up to Banff and Jasper for a couple of days.

I expect that we'll be mostly hiked-out by the time we reach Banff so this part of the trip is mostly for scenery and photography. Maybe a few short ones such as Johnston Canyon (for the waterfalls, etc)

Anybody know current conditions and how much progress is being made?
Thanks.

Are you talking about the recent floods? Calgary, Banff and the highways are more-or-less back to normal. Many trails in Kananaskis will be closed for the summer but Banff is just fine. We were golfing in Banff yesterday and everything was just beautiful.

I'm wondering about this myself, especially about trail conditions, I've been checking the updates on the Parks Canada website and a majority of trails are in fair/poor condition. I'm crossing my fingers that there will be much improvement by August.

We just returned from doing this exact itinerary!
Drove straight to Many Glacier, then across GNP to stay in Columbia Falls & then up the west side to Banff.

The trails near Banff/Lake Louise were actually in better condition than many in Glacier.
What we liked best:
Avalanche Lake, Hidden Lake (wet & snow 90% of the trail though)

Tea House in Lake Louise, & Moraine Lake

2idocs,
I'm not going until Aug 4 so I hope everything is back to normal summer conditions in all parks.

As I wrote above, we end with a couple of days in Banff (which I visited a couple of years ago) and Jasper.
