Argentia-N.Sydney ferry/Fredericton hotels

We're going to be travelling in New Brunswick-Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in September, and are planning on taking the ferry from Argentia to North Sydney on Monday, Sept.22. I'm a little concerned as I don't necesarily "give good ferry". Is there a substantially greater chance of a rough passage on that date than there is in August? Jonas, are you out there?

Secondly, has anybody stayed at the Lord Beaverbrook Hotel in Fredericton lately? The place, despite its long and honourable history, looked like a dump, inside and out, a couple of years ago, but I understand there have been some renovations since then. Any current reviews would be very much appreciated, as would any suggestions for other accommodation in Fredericton. Not the Sheraton,please--horrible place with tiny rooms and rude staff.
