Does anyone know of short term rental agencies in Vancouver? I am looking for a 2 bedroom in the downtown area for 3 days. I am leary of unreliable agencies as I have heard of some scary stories. Also if I wanted to plan a day trip to do some hiking possibly a trip to see the Rockies is that possible? I appreciate the advice as this is my first trip to the area.

There's all kinds of info on short term rentals in the Vancouver area on this Forum-the Search function is a great help in that regard.
The Rocky mountains are too far for a day trip.
I have used Bridgestreet - www.bridgestreet.com. Many of their properties are long term but some are nightly stay. You can also try www.carmanaplaza.com which isn't an agency but a condo hotel.
As Sam said, the Rockies are not a day trip. Instead, you could try hiking in Squamish for a day - you'd need to rent a car but it is definitely doable.
There is a website called FurnishedRentals.com and they list some great apartments in Vancouver. Most of them are directly with owners, but there are also companies that list their properties too. I have used a company called Downtown Suites and they were really helpful and the property in Yaletown was awesome!
In regards to doing a hiking trip to see the Rockies, it just isn't possible to do it in a day...way to far.
If you are interested in some local hiking, you might want to do the Grouse Grind (up Grouse Mountain) or climb the Chief? They are pretty full on, the the view from the top of the mountains are awesome!
