Alternatives to expensive hotel parking in Niagara Falls, Canada?

We're going to Niagara Falls in 2 weeks and look forward to the snow and ice--we live in South Texas. The hotels with views have VERY expensive parking fees and I wondered if we have any other options. We are flying into Buffalo, renting a car, and driving to Canadian side of the falls for 3 nights.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I am not sure that you are getting at NOT renting a car, but if you are, I would just point out that will limit you seriously from exploring. Although, NF has a transit system and there are tourist buses, you time is not your own and you will not get to see Niagara on the Lake which makes a wonderful side-trip at this time of year. However, I won't be a wet blanket here...maybe others have personal experience of this side-trip on a tour bus from NF?

If you are staying near one of the casinos, it will probably be cheaper to park in their garages. If you get a Players Advantage Card (free and good at both casinos) and use it when playing in the casino, the parking is free. If you don't gamble, then their parking fees are from $5-$20/day (depending on the day).

Forgot to mention that seeing snow and ice is very iffy at that time. We don't usually get any major snow until January, and the only ice might be the buildup on trees, etc. from the mist if the temp stays below freezing for a few days.

We do intend to rent a car. I was just wondering if there are places to park the car when we aren't using it--other than the expensive hotel parking such as Sheraton and Marriott. These seem to be the hotels with the best view, and we want a view. I guess we'll just use the hotel parking. Thanks for your prompt responses!

Jane, if you go up Murray St from Niagara Parkway to the top of the hill ( where the casino is) and turn right onto Fallsview Blvd....on the right hand side where the IMAX is, there is cheap parking. I can't remember the exact amount but it was cheap.
The only thing is, I don't know if they allow overnight parking. It's worth checking out.

Good luck.

Jane that's great! Number 6 is the one I was talking about.. It's identified on the map as Skylon Tower. IF the price is right, it's a good one to walk to the falls. Just walk down the hill by the casino. BTW, the casino is a good place to use the washrooms before you head down the hill.

Jane , the hotels with great views are on Fallsview to the right of lot number 6 behind the dark shaded areas. So lot 6 would be closest. Lot 8 looks closer, but it's actually at the bottom of the big hill. Number 6 is just along the road. from the hotels, you'd still have to walk left to Murray St and down to the falls. Not a bad walk. ALso there is a one of those clog railway things that goes down from the hotel area, but I'm not sure exactly where it is or if it's even in use.

Jane , have a great time.
BTW, I just reread your original post. There is a very good possibility you won't be seeing snow or ice. But then again, you might!
December has been getting milder the last few years, and we always have a white Christmas.

There's a parking lot on Ellen Avenue, which runs parallel Victoria avenue which is to the Main Street in downtown Niagara Falls. It's very convenient as it's right in the tourists area and just steps away from Clifton hill and all the restaurants downtown Niagara Falls. Take Victoria street and turn right at centre street, make another right at the stop sign and you'll see it to your left. It's called Clifton hill parking lot, it's always priced fairly, it's supervised and they offer daily parking rates as well as overnight parking. If you park overnight they allow you to leave your car there overnight and until noon of the following day. They give you an extra hour as all hotel checkouts in Niagara Falls are at 11:00 a.m.
This parking lot is amazing as it's literally steps away to everything. From there you can walk minutes to fallsview water park, guru Indian restaurant, Clifton hill, arcades, house of Frankenstein, mirror maze, Mama Mia's, the works burger, Niagara Falls, Antica pizza etc. It's the closest parking to everything.
