Alberta/Banff Road/Trail Reports

Jump to last reply

Since I've seen a few questions regarding Alberts road conditions and mountain trail conditions, I thought I'd post these links for those interested:

For the most up to date info on road closures, this is a the official Alberta government site: http://511.alberta.ca/ab/en.html

For information on Banff/Jasper park infrastructure (trails, campgrounds etc.) the best information is from the parks themselves:

http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/index.aspx
http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/ab/jasper/index.aspx

For Kananaskis country:

http://www.albertaparks.ca/kananaskis-country.aspx
http://www.albertaparks.ca/kananaskis-country/advisories-public-safety/trail-reports.aspx

Note that at time of this posting, most of Kananaskis is closed. Some friends went camping last week to one of the only open campgrounds (Sandy McNabb) and went for a walk. The pictures they took of other destroyed campgrounds, picnic sites etc. was incredible. I'd be surprised if much of K-Country is opened before the end of summer.
