Trisha - could you be more specific about "affordable" - that would help for suggestions

Trisha,
Although we have not stayed here, have heard the "Rosellen Suites"/Stanley Park are very suitable and child-friendly. You may want to look them up on the internet...view rooms, rates, etc.
Good luck. Happy Holidays!

What I mean by affordable is I want good accommodation which is clean. I don't want basic. I am looking to pay for quality but not over the top. As I have never travelled to Canada before I am unsure of the rates so cannot judge by what things cost. Perhaps I should check that out first.

I think if you post a budget range, even off the top of your head (ie: don't want to spend more than $150 Canadian a night)... you'll get quite a few responses. Prices range all over Canada, even in Vancouver the prices range per hotel, albeit you can find clean affordable hotels at various costs.

I would prefer self catering rather than planned meals and this is more convenient for us. I suppose I would be willing to spen around £50 per night.

Thanks

Try the Pacific Palisades Hotel. Recently renovated and now managed by the Kimpton group out of San Francisco. Many of the large sized rooms have kitchenettes. Nicely situated on Robson.

We stayed at the Landis suites (www.landissuitesvancouver.com) in August 2002. We thought this was affordable and more importantly for us was a two bedroomed suite with kitchen.
