Acadia National Park, Nova Scotia, & PEI?
Planning a road trip for late July & need advice. We are flying into Boston and have 7 nights total. Rough plan is 1st night in Portland & the next night in Acadia National Park. I'd like to fit in Nova Scotia and if posible PEI. I'm concerned that I may be trying to fit too much in and would like advice on people who have been there. After the 2nd night in the Bar Harbor area, considering taking a ferry to Halifax & spending 2 nights. Then moving on to 1 night in P.E.I. (could instead spend 2 nights in P.E.I. & 1 in Halifax.) Then it's headed back to Boston where we're flying out of (and spending the final 2 nights on the way back). Thoughts?

Yes, you are trying to do too much, especially if you are planning to spend your final 2 nights in Boston (it's not clear from your original post).
Boston to Portland is 2 hours.
Portland to Acadia is 3 hours, and staying only 1 night at Acadia does not do it justice. You really need at least 2 there.
Acadia to Halifax is 7.5 hours, not counting stops. There is no longer a ferry from Bar Harbor to Nova Scotia. Driving time to Charlottetown, PEI, from Acadia is a little less than to Halifax. But you also lose an hour when you cross into Canada. So that day is essentially comsiumed by travel.
Halifax or PEI to Boston is 10 hours driving time, not counting stops.
If you do that last drive all on Day 7, and you spend 2 nights at Acadia, that would leave three nights (but only 2 days) for Canada. Most people on here would tell you to skip PEI and focus on NS with only 2 days—if they didn't say visit the Bay of Fundy on the New Brunswick side instead (e.g., Hopewell Cape) or even skip Canada entirely and spend all your time in Maine and/or Boston (maybe adding Portsmouth NH, or Cape Ann in MA to the mix).

Oh my gosh, spend the entire time in MA or ME. Boston is worthy of a few days in itself. You don't need a car for your stay here. It is a walkable city.
If you really want to do Maine, I would highly recommend you take your time, do Route 1 and hang to the ocean as much as you can. Wells, Ongunquit, Booth Bay, Camden, Kennebunkport - all beautiful spots and end up in Bar Harbour. You can then take the I95 back to Boston on your last day in 4-5 hours.
