9 Days + travel in NS/PEI/CB

Jump to last reply

Hello!
We are planning a trip to Halifax this May to attend a conference.
We are trying to get some suggestions on what would be realistic as a relatively fast paced but not stressful schedule for our journey! Based on what our friends have told us, it would be beautiful to see PEI and Cape Breton in addition to a little more around Halifax if we can.

May 5, Arrive evening
May 6, Free day in Halifax
May 7, Conference
May 8-14th Free
May 15th, Depart Halifax in the am.

Might like to see Peggy's cove, not sure if it's practical to get to Lunenburg.
Is it worth checking out the Bay of Fundy with such a short trip?
We were thinking to spend 1 day/night in Summerside and 2 day/nights in Charlottetown (not huge Anne fans, so just a brief visit to those sites if any).
Also perhaps One day/night in Cape Breton - Cabot Trail, any other suggestions, overnight in Sydney before coming back to Halifax for departure?

Thank you for helping us, it's overwhelming!
David

    Hmmmmmmmmm,

Well, you have a reasonable amount of time, particularly as you already have built-in time for seeing some of Halifax.

I perceive that the priorities are to zip up north to Cape Breton and specifically the Cabot Trail. Lets say you spend two nights there... I always suggest Baddeck. Drive the circuit of the Cabot Trail on the day in between (unless it is foggy, then you do something else that day, and drive the Cabot Trail the next day).

Then, the 2nd priority is Hopewell Cape, NB... from which you can double-back and get to the Confederation Bridge to PEI.

IF you spent a night near Hopewell Cape, you could see the place both at low tide, and then again at high tide (Low tide is the priority if you only see it once).

    SO...

    night of

    8th - Baddeck, NS ??

    9th - Baddeck, NS ??

10th - Near to Hopewell Cape, NB

    11th - Charlottetown

    12th - Charlottetown, PEI

    13th - (heck, maybe) Pictou, NS ??

    14th - Halifax

and maybe make a day trip out to Peggy's Cove, for lunch, or whatever, on that free day in Halifax.

I have responded to many other Nova Scotia posts over the years, so if you click on my name you might find more scattered about.
