2 week Girl Trip in Newfoundland
I went for a 2 week girls trip with my two girlfriends. Our trip involved a lot of nature walks, hikes, wildlife viewing, lighthouse views, and small towns. We are in our early thirties/late twenties.

Day 1: (Friday, Aug 3)
- Drive from Kennebunkport to Fundy National Park and camp at Pointe Wolf Campground
Day 2: (Saturday, Aug 4 )
- Drive from Fundy National Park to North Sydney, NS.
- Board Ferry for NFLD – SLEEP ON FERRY
Day 3: (Sunday, Aug 5)
– Drive to Gros Morne National Park, stop in Corner Brook for supplies
– Visit Discovery Centre
– Hike Green Gardens Hike
– Check into Berry Hill Campground
Day 4: (Monday, Aug 6)
– Hike Gros Morne Mountain
– Spend night at Berry Hill Campground
Day 5: (Tuesday, Aug 7 )
– Hike Bakers Brook Falls Trail
Gros Morne National Park
– Visit Lobster Cove Lighthouse and have picnic lunch
– Hike Berry Hill trail
– Sunset walk on Berry Pond
– Camp at Berry Hill Campground
Day 6: (Wednesday, Aug 8 )
– Go on Western Brook Pond Boat Trip
– Visit and picnic at Shallow Bay Beach
– Hike Lighthouse Trail in Cow’s Head
– Camp at Berry Hill Campground
Day 7: (Thursday, Aug 9)
- Hike Tablelands Trail
- Drive from Gros Morne to Twillingate.
- Stop at "Prime Berth interpretation centre.
- Eat at J and J Restaurant
- See Split Peas Musical Group
- Stay at Echos of the Ocean B and B
Day 8: (Friday, Aug. 10)
- Stay at Echos of the Ocean B&B
Signal Hill, St. John's
- Visit Twillingate Lighthouse and Titanic exhibit.
- Visit the Auk Island Winery for wine tasting
- Dinner at All Around the Circle Dinner Theatre
- Stay at Echos of the Ocean B and B
Day 9: (Saturday, Aug. 11)
- Drive coast to town of Newton. Walk around town and have tea and pie at Rebecca’s tea room.
- Drive to Terra Nova National Park
- Hike Coastal Trail
- Visit Visitor Center
- Camp at Newman Sound Campground
Day 10: (Sunday, Aug. 12)
- Walk Sandy Pond Trail and eat picnic at Sandy Pond at Terra Nova National Park.
- Drive to top of Blue Hill (highest point in park)
- Hike Malady Head Trail
- Camp at Newman Sound Campground
Day 11: (Monday, Aug. 13)
- Drive to Bonavista Penninsula
- Visit Dungeon Provincial Park
- Visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse
- Dinner and Irish live music at Walkham’s Gate Pub
- Evening “Lunch” at B and B
- Stay at Harbourview B and B
Day 12: (Tuesday, Aug. 14)
East Coast Trail
- Hike Skerwink Trail in Trinity
- Drive to St. John’s
- Visit Cape Spear
- Dinner at friend’s house
- Stay with friends
Day 13: (Wednesday, Aug. 15)
- Visit and Hike trail at Signal Hill
- Take tour and tasting at Quidi Vidi Brewery
- Walk around downtown and shop. Lunch at the Hummus Hut.
- Beers and Apps at Yellow Belly Brewery on George St.
- Dinner at Piatto Italian Restaurant/Pizzeria
- Screeched in at Trapper Johns on George Street
- Music and beers at O’Reilly’s Pub on George Street
Day 14: (Thursday, Aug. 16)
- Drive to La Manche Provincial Park
- Hike trail to falls at campground
- Camp at La Mache Campground
Day 15: (Friday, Aug. 17)
- Hike section of East Coast Trail near LaManche
- Dinner at Gannet’s Nest restaurant
- Stay at Bird Island Resort
Day 16: (Saturday, Aug. 18)
Avalon Peninsula
- Visit Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Preserve and gannet colony
- Hike Castle Hill Trail in Placentia
- Lunch and coffee at Phillip’s Café in Placentia
- Take ferry from Argentia
Day 17: (Sunday, Aug. 19)
- Arrive in Nova Scotia. Drive back in Kennebunkport, ME

Wow--that is the most thorough "nature-oriented" NL itinerary I've seen-- I think I will reference it to anyone who says they like to hike. You certainly were an energetic group, and you really organized your route well. I also admired your beautiful photos, and it was nice to see mention of our lively local music scene.
Two tidbits of info from a born & bred Newfoundlander: a touton is made by frying partly-risen bread dough (homemade bread is common here--my grandmothers probably never saw a bakery). And the town with the little "canals" is Newtown, for anyone searching Google maps.

Great trip report...or more accurately great report of GREAT trip...were you folks ambitious or WHAT!??!
What part of Maine are you from? We visit Cape Rosier every year on holiday and find much to remind us of Western NL in those coastal scenes...
