We've decided to include 2 nights on PEI during this summer's trip to Atlantic Canada. I'm thinking of staying in Charlottetown as it is central and we're more interested in scenic driving tours of the 2 ends of the island than we are in the Cavendish Beaches/Anne of Green Gables attractions. We'd like nice (not necessarily top luxury) accommodation in a great location for walking to dinner and attractions. A view would be super. Recommendations on this and restaurants, etc., would be gratefully received. Also - if anyone has a particularly strong recommendation on another place to stay on the Island (keeping the above criteria in mind) I would be happy to hear it. Thanks!
2 nights in Charlottetown...hotels and thoughts?

Hi, well do more research on these suggestions - I'm sure they all have their own sites. The Dundee is quite small but has an on site restaurant and pub, beautiful patio.
Literally next door is The Charlottetown Hotel, far bigger but comfortable and historic (also has restaurant etc. as do the rest mentioned here) Both are a five minute walk from the Confederation Centre, ten from the harbour front.
The Inn at St. George is more of a boutique hotel in historic buildings, very highly recommended but pricier. The Delta Hotel is right by the water and, well, a delta hotel. All these are very centrally located and easy walking distance to downtown Charlottetown's attractions and restaurants.
Try the Merchantman Pub for a simple pub supper or after dinner elsewhere pint one night, very friendly and popular with the locals. But actually Charlottetown has more good independent/non chain restaurants than you might expect for it's size, try the tourism P.E.I. website to find restaurants for the type of food and price range you might enjoy.
We stayed at the Delta right on the water. It's not glamorous or charming but it was fine, if you're not looking for anything special.
I think this might be classified as damning with faint praise, but really -- it was fine, not expensive and in a great location. Make sure you ask for a room with a view, though.
We are also looking for recommendations for where to stay in the Charlottetown area for 2 nights. I am looking for a moderately-priced hotel. Ideally, I'd like to keep it to $150 or less per night. Any suggestions??? I'd like a hotel with complimentary parking and internet.
