12 Day Itinerary Nova Scotia

Jump to last reply

We are Australians, aged early 70s and fit, planning to visit Nova Scotia for 12 days. We are interested in photography, nature, history, local culture, music, and walking. Our preliminary itinerary follows and we would be grateful for any suggestions.
We fly into Halifax on the evening of Friday 19th August and stay overnight at the following locations (if manageable).

1 night Bus from airport and stay downtown Halifax
2 nights Lunenburg via Peggy Cove etc. after picking up rental car
2 nights Annapolis Royal (graveyard tour and historic gardens)
1 night Pictou
2 nights Baddeck (day trip to Louisbourg from here)
1 night Cheticamp (Skyline walk?)
1 night Ingonish (Middle Head walk?)
1 night Antigonish or Halifax
1 or 2 nights Halifax
31st Depart midday train from Halifax

I have printed out the tide times for Hall’s Harbour (Baxter’s Harbour) and Hantsport and hope to see the tides at their extremes at one of these locations either from Lunenburg as part of a day trip or on the way to Pictou from Annapolis Royal.

Ideally, we would prefer to spend longer in fewer locations, but there is so much we want to see! We are open to any suggestions from this very helpful forum.
