Wineries with accomodations
A few years ago we spent some time in Tasmania at Rosevears estate which had some lovely accommodations overlooking the vineyards. Not a real hotel, but simply some nice cottages overlooking the area. They were not expensive and was hoping to find something similar elsewhere. I've done some basic research and have only found ultra expensive posh digs.
Next February we will be starting our Oz trip in WA and going down to Margaret River area and then headed east to either Adelaide or Melbourne wine areas. Have been to Barossa and Yarra on past trips and was thinking of Mornington peninsula this time. However, if anyone has any ideas for some nice simple accommodations in ANY Oz wine regions would love to hear about them.

If you still decide to come to Adelaide again, I can help you with ideas for Clare Valley, Mc Laren Vale, Adelaide Hills , Langhorne Creek and Fleurieu peninsula . Feb is normally our hottest month though. We may get to 40-45 deg C. And it will be very dry. Also what is your budget?

I can’t help with accommodations, but can highly recommend Movies at the Vineyard at Cape Mentelle outside Margaret River. An outdoor event in a beautiful setting. Quite popular with the locals and some evenings it is sold out so book online in advance. It can be quite chilly so have a blanket or two.

I've been to the area twice in the past and have to say that it is very tempting to want to return. Tanunda, Hahndorf, and McLaren Vale are really cool towns but we'd kind of like to try something different.
During our last trip two years ago we drove down the coast to Bowral, spent a few days and had a great time exploring the lesser known Southern Highlands wine region.
This time kind of leaning toward Mornington Peninsula because we love Pinots and Chards and perhaps it would be slightly cooler there near the sea? Or perhaps a return to Tasmania and see Hobart area as we only went to Launceston and Tamar Valley last time. Any good cellar doors down Hobart way?
Our top budget (thanks to our rebounding US$!)would probably be AU$200/nt.

We loved Rosevears Estate in TAS!
Oddly enough, Margaret River has a shortage of winery accommodation - I've looked for it myself many times over the past few years. They're missing a real opportunity if you ask me.
We lived in WA for seven years and I learned that some of the best places are the hardest to find - I suggest you do a through search looking for privately owned accommodation on websites like Stayz, and make enquiries through the various visitor's centers. They have listings of places you'd not find otherwise.
We've had some seriously dud accommodation in Margs, so do be careful when booking. The prevailing attitude seems to be that because they're in MR, they don't have to try very hard, which can be quite frustrating for visitors.
We found a lovely little place south of Margaret River a few years ago, but they don't have AC, so I personally wouldn't stay there in Feb.
Just in case you're tougher than I am regarding the heat, it's called Amon-Ra at Ibizan Wines. It's located in the Upper Chapman Valley, just south of Witchcliffe, about 15 minutes drive from Margaret River (the town).

Vintages in MR is already at the top of our list but your suggest of Adinfern Estate looks very nice too. I will also explore your other suggestions, too. Here in California staying at a winery is nearly non-existent and dining at a winery is not nearly as prevalent as it is there. Adds to the whole experience in my estimation.
Luckily, we still have plenty of time to settle on this and will continue to explore. But if anyone else can suggest some venues on Mornington Peninsula or Tasmania, I'd sure like to hear about them.

If you decide on Tasmania, we enjoyed our stay in one of the 2 bedroom luxury cottages at Riversdale near Hobart. We only stayed one night but I think you could base yourself here for a few days. We spent most of that trip in the Huon Valley and on Bruny Island.

We stayed at Relbia Lodge in TAS a couple of weeks ago, fabulous, right next to Josef Chromy Vineyards, sorry we didn't have more time there. Highly recommend it. Also LOTS of vineyards on Freycinet Peninsula, we stayed at Saffire for our big splurge, just fantastic. They do vineyard trips and feature all the local wines with meals.
