Planning a trip for this December to go to Austrailia and New Zealand with my Daughters. Any help would be great. I would even look at a planned itinerary if anyone suggest that because my planning skills are lacking. I'd like the girls to see and do as much as possible as this might be the one and only time we are there. We like nice hotels or B&B's but it doesn't have to be the Ritz. Thanks for any ideas and advise!!
Where to stay and what to do with my 18 and 20 year old daughters

Australia is quite a large island, so it would help posters give you some meaningful advice to know:
Duration of your trip.
Which part of December you will be here. Long school holidays begin mid-month and it is high season.
What your interests are.
Where you plan to land & depart.
Budget for accommodation
Whether you will drive or rely on public transport/tours.
Often a good place to start is, "We(you/your daughters) want to go to (Australia & New Zealand) because we're interested in ......"
Typically, the first timer's trip includes Sydney (Opera House/Sydney Harbour Bridge); Cairns (Great Barrier Reef) and either Melbourne (Great Ocean Road) or The Red Centre (Alice Springs & Uluru) and takes 2-3 weeks.
What research have you done so far & what is on your and your daughters' wish lists?
New Zealand is a beautiful country and needs at least one and preferably 2 weeks to even touch the surface.
I would highly recommend David Armbrust's tour out of Port Douglas.

Absolutely fantastic tour! We did the all day with our 2 kids and everyone had a great time. David is extremely knowledgeable and devoted to all animals in his own private rain forest.
What I especially liked was the home cooked lunch and the fact that he only takes 4 people on the tour.
