Websites for posting photos
We just returned from a wonderful 3 weeks in Australia and will post a trip report on this site soon. I'd like to post my photos on a commercial website, e.g., Shutterfly, Snapfish, Kodak, but have never done this before and would appreciate advice about the best one to use. I'd like to be add to add captions and ideally headings, e.g., for different cities or sights. Do any of the websites allow you to rotate or crop, or does that have to be done in advance?

My New Zealand pictures are at http://community.webshots.com/user/ElendilPickle. Webshots allows you to crop, rotate, etc., and gives you a good amount of space for captions.
I also have a Photobucket account, but I've only used it to put up pictures to post on message boards. It also allows editing and all that.
I have an account on www.worldisround.com, too, but haven't really used it yet.

I can't speak from experience, but my daughter is using www.flickr.com, a Yahoo service, to post her pix from China, and is pretty happy with it. I was planning to investigate using it but might try Lee Ann's suggestion.

I use Snapfish. I think they all ask the folks you invite to view to register. Snapfish asks for an e-mail address and password. There is a place to uncheck if you don't want to get e-mail from them. I have been very pleased with the program and also that there aren't any spam e-mails. I have used them for about 5 albums so far. You can rotate, rearrange, caption, etc. once you have the photos uploaded.

However, I'm not sure it provides information on one of the aspects I forgot to mention in my original post. I'd like to have the photo company make a printed album for me that includes my labels and text. Does anyone know of companies that do that?

My site of choice for years has been ofoto.com which is now Kodak EasyShare gallery (you can Google it). It's free and easy to use. My last posting I took advantage of Google/Picasa. First, Picasa is a free program from Google (just go to www.google.com and look for their offerings) which organizes your pictures on your desktop. It is, to say the least, slick.
Google/Picasa have now introduced a new web albums site which is super easy to load and have your friends access. It has a limited amount of free space, then will sell you more for, I think, $25 a year.
I know that EasyShare allows you to rotate and crop and will bet that the other does as well. Captions are super easy on both, rearranging sequence of photos is much easier on Picasa.
