Warrnambool AND Oddball.

Jump to last reply

We've just got back from a two week trip to Victoria to visit our DS. We had a few days on the way - our departure point was the Gold Coast - so a couple of cold, windy, wet days at Diamond Head Camp Ground in Crowdy Bay National Park. A lovely spot really just a shame about the weather. Next onto Newcastle for a night to visit a cousin that I very rarely get to see and we had a wonderful catch up with them.

Then on to Kiewa (near Wodonga) for a couple of nights to spend time with some folks we met on our 1997 trip around Australia. Lovely, lovely couple who now have a beautiful family. They live in a glorious, beautiful part of the world and they took us out site seeing and I truly fell in love with the countryside there.

Then to Melbourne for a few days before DS and his girlfriend and us all headed over the Great Ocean Road and then onto Warrnambool for a few days. We snagged some seriously gorgeous weather in Victoria and Warrnambool was wonderful.

We were thrilled to be able to see the movie Oddball there also. It's a great story - based on a true story - to save the little fairy penguins on Middle Island, Warrnambool. The furry stars of the show were also doing meet and greets at Flagstaff Hill. We could see them (and hear them) each day as we were staying in the caravan park right below Flagstaff Hill.

We travelled home via Echuca for a night - I've never actually been there before so was keen to at least get one night in. Then onto Wellington in NSW. Next stop was Cathedral Rock National Park just out of Armidale and we took the Nimboida Road to Grafton - that road is in excellent condition and the scenery is exquisite with all the trees coming out of winter extremely lush and green.

Anyway, I really just wanted to encourage you to see the little movie about Oddball - with the GOR as the backdrop for the movie you'll be happy to just see that alone.

Cheers All.
