Tour Companies Australia and New Zealand

My husband and I would like to take a 27-30 day tour in March of Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania. Wondering about tour companies. We were looking at Kensington, YTC, Globus, and Go Ahead. Any thoughts?

Is there a reason you want a tour, instead of planning a trip on your own? The posters here can help you with the latter option.

Tasmania is Australia - not a separate country . The only company that I've heard of is Globus .

Agree about DIY. Or possibly DIY with a couple of shorter tours.

I have heard of Globus, but nothing good. If I were going to use a tour company I would want one that took small groups, like Adventures Abroad or Odyssey or Eldertreks, or (lower end but more interesting) Intrepid. Or, if I were feeling extravagant, I might look at Smithsonian or Tauck or Road Scholar. I would NOT use a middle of the road big bus company.

IIRC friends of mine used Colette a while back for this area and seemed happy

Most of us here on Fodor's are DIY travelers. We'd be happy to help you plan a fantastic trip if you'd like to give it a go.

Do it yourself. Both countries are populated by people who speak a variant of English (despite how the Aussies mangle the lingo), are friendly, and are helpful. There are TONS of websites with information on where to go and how to travel in both Oz and Kiwiville. Why be led around by the nose and sit in a gigantic bus loaded with old people (even if you qualify as "old")?
