There are some quite nice German sausages at Salamanca Market. It is not a great market, lots of tourist tat and not much else, I wouldn't go out of our way to go.
Fish Frenzy is good for fish and chips on the harbour front at Hobart. Garagistes is very good, but more pricey.
What do you consider breaking the bank?
We really enjoyed Ethos in Hobart and if you're heading to MONA, we had a good lunch at the wine bar there. We spent around AUD120 at Ethos and AUD60 at MONA wine bar for 2 people.
Loved Fish Frenzy when we were in Tasmania in 2006. Very casual, order at the counter, concrete floors. Best fish and chips ever. Still can't believe I finished every bite. If I were visiting Hobart again, I'd definitely go back!
Bon appetit and bon voyage
