Sydney Ritz Carlton or Intercontinental?

I'm looking for any feedback from anyone who has stayed at either of these hotels - what are the differences? How are the gym facilities at these? Any first-hand experiences would be great to hear about! Thanks!

The Sydney Ritz Carlton is a beautiful "boutique" style of hotel where the service is probably the best of any hotel in Sydney. The Intercontinental is a larger fine hotel that could be called first class but is not in the same league as the Ritz. There is a second RC in Sydney at Double Bay, also a great hotel.

I've stayed at the Ritz. It's just what you expect from any Ritz Carlton property. Excellent service. Excellent location across the street from the Opera House. Beautiful elegant interiors. The comp breakfast was the best I had in Australia. The gym is small but functional. There's also a small pool on the roof. The US dollar is strong as well so it's quite reasonably priced. Have fun.

If you are still soliciting opinons. my vote is for the Ritz-Carlton--hands down. We stayed at the Ritz for a week on our honeymoon and if was amazing! The staff were exceptional, the location great, the rooms fantastic I could go on and on. The I.C., while next door and so it too has a great location, is a huge hotel with a lot of tours passing through. The Ritz is very quiet. I can not praise it enough! Have a wonderful trip!
