Sydney Airport Hotels?

My daughter and I are coming in from Uluru to Sydney for just one night before heading back to the states. Does anyone have a favorite and reasonable hotel they would recommend for one night in Sydney? We have less than 22 hours in Sydney. Thanks!

I'd recommend staying in the CBD.
There's nothing to recommend the airport hotels unless you're landing after 10pm & departing before 8am next morning.

It's only a short trip - 15kms, 20 mins, <$40 in a cab ( depending on your arrival time).

Not only is there a much better choice of hotels, you can have a nice meal somewhere & enjoy a lovely final night in our beautiful city by the Harbour. Much better farewell to Australia than holed up in a nondescript airport hotel.

"Reasonable" being a totally subjective term, have a look at bookings.com to see what's available that fits your budget.

As you'd expect, hotels bordering Circular Quay are generally more expensive, but you can often pick up a bargain. Self-catering apartments can be a good deal too & there's plenty of places for breakfast.

The map on www.booking.com will help you quickly locate the various properties.

I usually use Booking as a resource & book direct with the property.

If you do want to stay right by the international terminal, Rydges is great! Di

Stay at the Rocks or Circular Quay. The airport is relatively close, especially considering how physically large Sydney is - its relative location is similar to Miami/MIA and NOT similar to NYC/any, LA/LAX or Dallas/DFW.

But if you DO want to stay near the airport, the Holiday Inn is only a few minutes away. I stayed there once overnight for a late arrival and early departure and was happy.

Be prepared to empty your wallet. Sydney is one of the most expensive cities I've ever stayed in. The recommendations for 'down by the Rocks or Circular Quay' will set you back around $400 a night which is ridiculous.
Sydney is beautiful but will cost you an arm and a leg. Just to get the train to the airport was $15 - don't know how the locals survive.

Plenty of hotels under $400 - at the moment The Russell is $197 & the Harbour Rocks $260 on bookings.com

At least Sydney ( and all Australian hotels) show the full price on the advertisement - there are no extra taxes & one is not required to tip everyone will breathes. Add these items in & then compare with other countries' prime position accommodation costs.

My daughter and I have already spent a week in Sydney on a prior trip so will look more at the airport vicinity venues?
I am in shock that the Rydges is $257 for a twin for one night?

If you are prepared to pre-pay you can get a saver member rate for $237. Membership is free - just need to sign up for Rydges Hotels membership.

I can also see rooms on lastminute.com.au for as low as $199 . . . depends if you are prepared to chance it though! Di

Hello, I fly through Sydney airport at least once a month and I find Rydges is now overpriced. Stamford Plaza Airport is convenient and often has good deals. Check their own site as well as booking.com.

Re Rydges at the airport, We stayed there earlier this year, booked online via TripAdvisor site for $187. Quite reasonable for Sydney's compared to many of the city hotels, when you include airport cab fares.
