Small group tours of the Top End of Australia
We would like to find a tour operator for a 4-5 day tour of Litchfield, Kakadu Arnhemland and maybe the Katherine. Length of trip and destinations can be flexible. We would be going in mid October. The tour either can be a small group - up to 6 people or custom. We (two) are from the US and find it a bit more difficult now to drive on our own in Australia and also would like the knowledge of a tour guide to help us.

Are you trying to go to all of these places in 4/5 days ?
You could do a day trip to Litchfield , then a 2/3 day trip to Kakadu . There are lots of tours available in Kakadu eg Yellow river boat trip , rock painting walk , visitor centre. you can do a flight from Jaiburu over Arnhem Land - fantastic to see the escarpment .
I can't recommend any tours as I haven't used any but if you search for NT tours you can see what each offers and you may find reviews on trip advisor

Thanks to all. I have searched the website of Tourism Top End and have consulted TA reviews. I just needed some guidance from someone who has been on a tour, if possible. Otherwise it is a "shot in the dark." Billy Can information seems very out of date, as you hinted, Bokara2.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but we had 4 nights in the Top End in October. We spent two nights of those nights at the Wildman Wilderness Lodge and did a full day trip to Kakadu with them and we thought it was excellent. They also have some other half day tours. The lodge is a nicer place to stay than most of the accommodations in the park, although of course we didn't see as much of the park as if we had stayed there overnight. It's very easy to do self drive and make stops on your own in the Mary River Wetlands area. Originally we had also planned to do a day trip to Litchfield but DH hurt his ankle so I knew we wouldn't be able to hike to the waterfalls.

Bokhara2 See my reply above before your reply. I will keep looking at both websites. I just thought I might get some advice from some one who had used a particular company.
FromDC- yes we have thought of doing just what you did. I have looked at their website and tours. We will see.
