Restaurant recommendations for Tahiti
We are planning our honeymoon for May 31-June 18. We're visiting Tahiti, Morea, Bora Bora, and Le Tahaa. I'm looking for recommendations on your favorite restaurants. We like to seek out local's joints and places that don't try to cater to American palates. Any price point is okay as is formal or casual as long is the food is good. Thanks in advance!

If I'm looking to eat "local" I often end up at a roulotte (FP's equivalent of a food cart/truck), or a place like Painapo Beach on Moorea, which itself is kinda like a food cart: open air, very casual, picnic table seating.... oh, but the view....sigh. Generally though, you won't find many "locals'" type restaurants because the populations on these islands, outside of Tahiti, are very small, and incomes are low, so restaurants almost have to cater to the tourist palate. But that doesn't mean you won't find places serving great food, prepared with locally sourced ingredients like vanilla, coconut, taro, and fish of all kinds.
All that said, even though I think of it as FP's version of Hard Rock Cafe, you should go Bloody Mary's on Bora Bora, even if only to buy the T-shirt.
