Hi

No recommendations for travel agents in the US but have a caution - I tried to use McCoy's Travel (think they go under several names, eg 1800luvfiji, fiji-islands travel etc) and found them almost useless!

You will probably find that contacting resorts directly via email will get you the best rates anyway. Use www.bulafiji.com, which is the Fiji govt.'s official tourist inof site to get all the info you need, together with info from this board and you shouldn't even need a travel agent, except for flights (maybe).

Also, many travel agents are in financial quandries at the moment because of 11th Sept events.

Just remember to take out good travel insurance to cover you if any airlines/hotels go bust or war makes travel impossible.

Post questions here and you will get lots of advice on resorts and activitites!

You can email me on [email protected] if you want (I have been to Fiji several times and am getting married there next year, so have lots of info I would be happy to share).

Hello BB,

My company specializes in honeymoon travel and I do quite a bit of travel to the South Pacific. I would love to assist you with your honeymoon plans for Fiji. The US $ is very strong against the Fijian currency so you will get a lot for your money.

I have been in the travel business for over 25 years and Travelscape is my own company.

In regards to the financial stability of the travel companies you plan to deal with, you can protect your self in a couple of ways. #1 Pay with a credit card if possible. If you pay by check, make the check payable to an escrow account. #2 Take out independent insurance. We offer 3rd party travel insurance that covers you not just for cancellations but for supplier default.

If you would like suggestions for your honeymoon, please give me lthe following information:

dates of travel, approximate budget, any special considerations. It is also helpful if you have travelled to other island resorts, to give me a name or 2 of resorts you really liked or ones you really did not like. That helps me to zero in on your tastes a bit more.

I look forward to hearding from you.

Francine
[email protected]
