Hi all,
My husband and I are travelling to the Cooks next May and will be spending 5-6 nights on Rarotonga and 2-3 nights on Aitutaki. After lots of net-searching we have decided to stay on the East-South coast ie. Muri beach -Titikaveka area. We would like to watch our budget here and splash out on Aitutaki (stay at the Are Tamanu). Has anyone heard anything or knows first hand about the following:
Taakoka Villas, Villa Kotaa, Muri Beach Cottages (studio units), Shangri-la, Tiana's beach lodge.
Thanks

Toured the Shangri-La resort, which is owned/operated by Elliot Smith, author of "The Cook Islands Companion". The units were very nice, with evrything you need. The property is beachfront but the units are set back from the water a little. Good swimming beach, near the "action" of Muri but tucked away in a quiet corner. Would be a good choice I would think. Elliot posts answers to travelers questions on the Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree message board (as "Raro").
Not familiar with the others.
