We're planning a trip to Australia in July, arriving in Brisbane. We're trying to decide what to do while we're there / what we should really see to make the most of our trip. Has anyone any recommendations? What are the "must-see"'s for Queensland? Thanks!

Queensland has loads to offer. July is mid-winter in Oz but its a good time for Queensland as it will be warm and mostly dry. The further north you go, obviously the better the weather and warmer the water. Just beware that the first 2 weeks in July ae school holidays in Queensland which may have implications for prices, bookings, etc.
Heading north along the coast from Brisbane, some recommended stops would be:
Noosa - small upmarket beach town with great walks in adjacent small National Park.
Hervey Bay - for whale watching tours
Frazer Island - great place to stay for 4WDing, camping, rainforest, wildlife, lagoons, beaches, etc
Whitsunday Islands - beautiful group of islands with all levels of accommodation. Also sailing trips.
Townsville/Magnetic Island - easy to get to and cheap by island standards
Mission Beach
Cairns region - especially the hinterland including the Atherton Tableland, rainforests, etc
Port Douglas - great little town, easy access to Reef, Mossman Gorge, Cape Tribulation, Daintree, etc.
