Present Host Parents
Hi,
I have been studying for 9 months in Australia now, and I am staying here for another month.
I stayed in a host family and gone to a local high school for the time that I have been here.
Next months my parents will be flying over and we will travel for another couple of weeks through Australia. Because my host family has been amazing for the past 9 months, I want to give them a nice present. I was wondering now if any of you had any ideas what to bring for my host family. They have been literary amazing, so don't worry about the price.
They like hiking, animals, doing things with the family, rugby and what more
So far I have thought of the general stuff, like a tea towel, but I have already given them wooden shoes, little magnets, dutch food and more. So I was thinking maybe a nice scotch or a wallet or bagpack.
I am from the Netherlands, so if that's any use.
Hopefully you guys have some fresh good ideas.
Thanks a lot in advantage!

As you've been staying with this family for 9 months & your parents are now coming over - what about a weekend away together?
If you were in Sydney, I might suggest renting a house in the Blue Mountains.
In Melbourne, perhaps the Yarra Valley / Daylesford/ the Mornington Peninsula;
If in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast/ Mt Tamborine or one of the Islands;
If Perth, Margaret River, Rotto ..
If Adelaide, the Clare, Maclaren or Barossa
... You get the picture. If not that - a really nice lunch or dinner out.
Something from home, like a coffee-table book from your region would be lovely, too. Not to put too fine a point on it, but IMHO, a tea towel or a bottle of scotch is more a gift for someone who invites you for a meal or weekend - not someone who has hosted you for 9 months.

Thanks! My hostparents have to work, so I can sadly enough not take them away for a weekend, however a coffee-table book might be a good idea thanks! I agree indeed that a tea towel or scotch are not the best ideas.
I am open for more suggestions if any has any?

Tickets to a rugby match they might like? Matching his and hers shirts in their team's colours? Something individual that shows you've put some thought into it [which you have, of course] and a meal out would certainly be very acceptable to me, were I in the fortunate situation of having hosted you.
Could your parents bring a nice book out with them? or clogs with their names on them? and/or a special bottle of proper dutch Jenever?
Such a nice idea on your part - they sound like a special couple.
