Potts point OR CBD in Sydney

Visiting Sydney with family in July for the first time as tourist. Which area would be better, we don't like secluded areas. It should have easy access, good cafes, touristy places etc

Potts point or CBD

Thanks

If you want to be central to attractions and transportation, Circular Quay would be your best option. You could also try something near Hyde Park or Darling Harbour.

Use Booking.com to find something that fits your budget. Look under CBD, Circular Quay, The Rocks or Darling Harbour. Central Sydney is quite compact, well serviced by public transport sport & easily walkable.

Just use Booking.com as a resource to see what's available - then book direct with the property, quoting the booking.com rate, or ask if they can give you an even better rate.

We recently stayed in Hyde Park Inn - very suitable for families - many rooms have small kitchens, opposite Hyde Park, close to Museum station for travel from airport , and some coffee shops very close and restaurants not far away

We stayed quite near where northie stayed and thought the area a very good location. Easy walking to lots of places, cafes, restaurants and right near the Museum stop and buses. We were in an apt, but saw lots of hotels nearby.

There are various places over Sydney where you can get exceptional seafood joints. Some of those are as follows,

1. Nicks Seafood Restaurant at Darling Harbour
2. Blue Fish at Darling Harbour
3. Rockpool Sydney at CBD
4. Orso Bayside Restaurant at Mosman
5. Mohr Fish at Surry Hills

Quite different. About 2 kms, depending on where in Darlinghurst & where at Darling Harbour.

No comparison between the 2. Darling Harbour is an attractive harbor -- seemed very touristy to us, but nice. Darlinghurst is a neighborhood that appeared to be in transition. We liked it and spent several hours exploring it.

I have only spent a week in Sydney so far from an expert. We stayed on the other side of Hyde Park and liked that area. But I think your hotel is in a perfectly fine location.

It's fine. As you will have seen from the map, right on bus train stops along William street, a short walk to the CBD, Kings Cross ( railway station) and Potts Point.
