North North Island at Easter

Jump to last reply

We will be coming to the end of a two month visit to New Zealand at the end of March (we leave next week, hooray). Our itinerary takes us all over the South Island, and places in the North Island we haven't previously visited. (We had one previous visit to NZ organized around business in Wellington, and we have been itching to get back). Our accommodation in NZ will be rentals in Nelson and Russell, supplemented with motels/hotels as we go, and nearly all booked except for this last bit. We will be giving up our rental in Bay of Islands (Russell) on March 23, just before the Easter holiday. We have some days to fill before we are due back in Auckland on March 28. Any thoughts about where and how we should spend our time? We like hiking (although we may have had our fill by this time!), some culture, decent food and hanging out.
