Need Help with itinerary and 2 teens!
I have finally narrowed down that we will spend 10 days in Australia. NOt sure how long to stay in Sydney. I also want to spend time in the Cairnes area to see old towns, rainforets, etc. My girls are 15 & 18.
We are on a budget. Would love to stay with locals on a ranch/farm for 1 or 2 nights. Possibly in the rainforest in those bungalows on stilts., as well.Because we will only be there a short time, we wnat to get the "best of Oz".My husband works for us air, but we are having a hard time getting good rates. we may fly United to Sydney, then Quantas to Cairnes, then La.
Any suggestions how I can put this all together? Feeling excited but overwhelmed.G'day!

You are in luck then as PatW, who has a B&B writes on this forum and is from Cairns. Not only would you get to stay with a local but she would give you the best information possible too on what to see and where to go.
Probably best to give yourself 3 or 4 days in Sydney and the rest up north as you only have a short time.
Anyway you will get a lot of information from others. Cheers!

Thanks Liz - Donna, there's some lovely old historical towns on Atherton Tableland west of Cairns - Yungaburra, Malanda, Herberton, Ravenshoe etc where you can stay in rural retreats, B&B's, farmstays or old pubs. There's also a good selection of B&B's in Cape Tribulation area of Daintree world heritage rainforest. The B&B & Farmstay of FNQ's website is www.bnbnq.com.au - it contains listings
from Townsville to Cooktown and out as far west as Ravenshoe.

Donna - I always hit the "post" button then think of something else to mention. If you need some help sorting through that lot on the B&B & Farmstay website - email me on [email protected] - I'm pretty familiar with most of them.
