Navini or Natadola
Can anybody help please. My other half and i are visiting friends in Suva in May 03 but would like to stop at a a resort for a week before seing them. Would love Yasawa or Vatule but beyond our budget. We quite like the look of both Navinin Island resort and the Natadola beach resort. Any advice on either place would be of great help. Thanks

We've stayed at Navini 3 times and have really loved it. It is owned and run by a family of very nice Australians with fijian staff who have been there for years. It is very small and personal and is set on a wonderful sand island that is surrounded by spectacular & protected coral reef with lots of fish. I have not stayed at natadola - but have looked at their web-site and while it looks noce, I know (from bitter experience) that none of the resorts on the Coral Coast have good beaches - particularly when the tide is out (it becomes a beach of broken coral and rock), coral or fish ! If you choose Navini do try and get a duples bure as their small ones (while fine) are small. I'd choose Navini - you'll love it.

I havent stayed at Navini but have stayed a few nights at Natadola.

Natadola Beach is the only white sand beach in the main island on Viti Levu. For all those tropical postcard beaches you have to go for an island really. The hotel is small and intimate. We loved the swimming pool, the rooms were really nicely laid out and decorated and the food was superb.

Our only reservation was that you do not get that island vibe - the beach is public so you obvioulsy get day trippers and a few locals who may try and sell you shells or horse rides. On an island you will probably have it pretty much to yourself (unless you go to a big family resort such as Treasure or Castaway or Mana or Malolo)...

I have been to Fiji several times though and I have to say I wouldnt stay a week at Natadola. It would be a shame not to see an island...

My advice would be to stay at Natadola for maybe 2 nights and an island for 4 or 5. Not sure about Navini though - i think it is very small with no pool etc.

I would recomend one of the islands in the Mamanuca group, such as Tokoriki, Matamanoa (no kids) etc.

Definietly try Natadola - but try and do an island too. You could drive from Suva to natadola (2.5-3 hrs i reckon)and then onto nadi (50 mins) for the island transfer

Thankyou both for replying and Navini is looking quite good. There seems to be so much choice., Can either of you or anyone else help further please. We also like the look of Nukabati Island or an island where they dont have small children. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
