We would love to visit this part of the world and have saved enough airline miles to get us to LA where we can get a reasonable flight. We also have enough ACCOR points to get 4 nights free at Sofitel so would only have to pay for 2.
Is it possible to have dinner fairly reasonably? We definitely cannot swing dinners at Sofitel. How about a store nearby where we could purchase a few bottles of wine for the room?
Can we do this trip with 150 USD a day for spending money, not including hotel and air?
Thanks for any advice!

We stayed on Moorea a number of years ago and were able to avoid the high prices. We stayed on the other side of the island in a place that I think is called Fare Vai Moana now.We found a small cafe 10 minute walk down the road that sold local beer for about 50 % the resort price (run by a Swiss couple)and reasonable meals at affordable prices, a "corner" grocery store next door that sold take away beer at about 30% of the resort price and groceries.we had a package which included the night dinner in our price but I'm sure we would have found affordable eating elsewhere apart from the cafe which we used for some lunches and the store for bread ,cold meats, salad vegetables etc.also for lunches.
I'm sure you would find similar shops near where you would be staying.Just be adventurous.
