Molokai or Kaui
Hello,
We are going to Hawaii in April but are having a hard time deciding which island to visit. Molokai intrigues me because its quiet but I really love beautiful beaches and palm trees. I have been to Kauai and loved it but that was many years ago. What we like to do is rent a car and explore but also sit on a beach under a palapa and read a book and snorkle. We also like to go out for dinner. Please give us your opions on which island you would recommend and what you liked about each would be helpful. I have read the posts but can't find anything recent.
Thanks, Mirasia

Hi Mirasia -
You'll get get a better response to your questions if you post on the US forum.
Having said that, I prefer Kauai to Molokai, although it's been several years since I visited either. When we visited Molokai there were only two restaurants on the entire island. I remember lots of deserted beaches and very few tourists.

If you are thinking of April 2012, be sure to double-check which things are still open/existing. My understanding is that there have been some closures as well as some recent re-openings on Molokai. I will be heading there in November.
