Just wondering if anyone has stayed here in the last 2 - 3 months. I have booked to stay one night in July this year, but have noticed there have been very anti reports about the place - dirty, staff who don't know what they are doing, to name but 2 concerns. Reports on a similar vein date back to 2008,
Thanks,
Dot

We've stayed at the homestead and also Territory Manor which is a few kms north of the homestead. Territory Manor has caravan/camping sites and motel units all set in acres of lawn and trees - a very pleasant environment. It also has a small restaurant. If you stay there, watch the barramundi feeding session. Bitter Springs (hot springs) is about a km from the manor.
We found Mataranka Homestead very dusty, the caravan sites were crammed in, and we disliked the loud entertainment in the evenings, although it is right at the hot springs.
Thank you, Marg, for you reply. I have made the decision to change accommodation, and your message makes me feel better about it. I understand about the hassle of dust and insects - they are not really in the owner's control - but dirtiness is unacceptable. I also do not like loud music as it is invasive if you are not attending the entertainment - and 99% of the time it is not the music I enjoy! We will be staying at the Territory Manor Motel.
Interesting about the loud music; I asked friends who had been in Mataranka last year about the homestead and that's what they mentioned, too. They used the campsite for their caravan but only stayed one night - and they said there was "entertainment" they could have lived without. They thought a nice quiet night in the bush would have been much better.
