Kakadu: Cooinda back to Darwin - time for Litchfield?

Jump to last reply

I am gathering opinions, before we get there and see what we feel like doing anyway.

We will be in Kakadu the first week of May, staying 2 nights at the Aurora Kakadu and 1 night at Cooinda Lodge. We'll take the sunrise yellow water cruise then head back to Darwin for an overnight near the airport.

It seems like it might be an awfully long drive to take the "southern" road past Litchfield so we could fit in a couple of hours in the park? I can't decide whether we should attempt that, or just go back the way we entered the park on the "northern" road and see some things we might have missed in our 2 days.

I would like to be at the Best Western Darwin airport by about 5 pm, and it looks like the yellow water cruise ends about 10 am.

Pros and cons please? Is Litchfield just too much to cram in?
