Its Cold Here! I need a Palm Cove recommendation!
My family (two kids 6 &9) are planning to spend 7 days in Palm Cove at the end of May and early June. Any recommendations between Paringa and Villa Paradiso???

We stayed in Villa paradisio. The suite was huge, and like most hotels in PC, right across the street/promenade from the beach. I would not recommend this place though...
the rooms were not all that clean,
the pool was tiny, cold and full of leaves,
they cranked up the leaf blower at 6:30 each morning,
the halls and walkways were full of leaves and trash,
the owners were unfriendly, offered us no tips or help, other than pushing us to rent a car, and
although it rained and the wind howled for 5 days, causing the beach to be unusable, they wouldn't let us out of our 6th night.

lcuy - Oh dear - am sorry to hear of your experience in Villa Paradiso and it was very bad luck that you copped awful weather for 5 consecutive days. In their defence all I can see is that it's almost impossible to keep leaves out of pool when it's windy although as they were so assiduously using their leaf blower (dreadful noise, I know) it looks as if they were trying. Still, it's better than chopping down the trees - some of those melaleucas on the Esplanade are hundreds of years old and I think are the most attractive natural feature of Palm Cove. Also can't understand why the resort was taking no trouble to advise and organise tours and just "push" rental cars, they would receive a far higher commission on the more expensive tours. I can understand why they held you to your original booking, they are not responsible for the weather and could quite possibly have lost another booking by holding the room for you. However, there's no excuse for a less than perfectly clean room.

I just booked Angsana Resort for 1 week in July. After hours on this computer reading and researching I found this to be the place for me. I am also traveling with kids, although older than yours. It seems Palm Cove is a great central place to get to most sights to see up north. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I am now planning things to do and am open for suggestions.

What a terrible experience you had at Villa Paradisio and it is very upsetting to hear of visitors to our lovely country being treated so badly.
There is absolutely no excuse for uncleanliness or noise disturbance, and normal hosts would be only too happy to help with impartial recommendations and advice on local activities etc. After all a happy guest will perhaps tell a dozen people - an unhappy one will tell the world, as you have just done on this forum!
We are in the hospitality industry too and over the past two weeks we have had 25 inches of rain which has caused flooding and some erosion of our road. This morning English guests who had booked for six days decided to leave after only two days as they were concerned about the flooding - we were entirely sympathetic to their feelings and simply charged them for the two nights. They left happily and armed themselves with our brochures to pass on to their friends!

I can't give you any info on the Paringa but when we were there we stayed at the Novatel in Palm Cove. It has it's own golf course and we were convenient to everything. I can't compliment the hotel enough as we had a large suite, the food we had in their dining room was excellent, pools for each set of buildings.
I found them through Accor hotels online and found a promotion. It gave us a great deal so we were pretty pleased.

Thanks for the information on the Novotel --- I have put in an inquiry to them. Just beside the Novotel is a place called the "Sanctuary Palm Cove" ---- do you or anyone have any feedback on the Sanctuary??

We just returned from PC for 5 nights and stayed at the Outrigger Beach Club. It was wonderful - brand new rooms, friendly staff and what I consider to be by far the cleanest and nicest pools (2) in Palm Cove (from what I saw).
We stayed for $140 AUS (that included tax) but there were only 2 of us. I found the rate on wotif.com. I believe they also have suites avaliable on that site.
The only warning: they do not have a liquor license yet, but my husband and I just stocked up at the store a few doors down, and they let us bring our own to the pool and restaurant. Saved a couple extra $$s along the way.
