My husband and I are planning a four week trip to Asia and Australia. We are going to be in Australia on the following dates:
June 21 Sydney (3 nits))
June 22 Sydney
June 23 Sydney check out the 24th)
June 24 Port Douglas (9 nts)
June 25 Port Douglas
June 26 Port Douglas
June 27 Port Douglas
June 28 Port Douglas
June 29 Port Douglas
June 30 Port Douglas
July 1 Port Douglas
July 2 Port Douglas check out the 3rd
Is this long in Port Douglas? Hubby has been there before and this is my first time and this is the only time of the year we can travel for more than a week or two. The only thing I want to see is the GBR and possibly go snorkeling.
From there we go to Singapore, Bali, The Maldives, then back to the US.
TIA!

Well you have given yourselves quite a few days in Port Douglas but I would say that if you just want to lie around and relax that would be fine but there is so much to do in that area that you will easilly fill up the 9 days as well as relaxing. You have Cairns,Daintree,Barrier reef, Kuranda and lots of other beautiful places of interest.Being a Sydneysider, I would have liked you to stay a little longer here but you have a nice holiday organised so go for it and enjoy!
If you want to see the reef and that is your only reason for visiting north Queensland then I would suggest a live abourd experience.
Otherwise spend half the time in the north on the Atherton Tablelands and a bit more in the Sydney surrounds.
Hi,
An unusual allocation of days. There is for sure loads to see up around PD. But if your hubby has been there before and all you want to do is snorkel (me too, me too) then you will have other opportunities to do that in the Maldives. And total relax beach time there too.
So if I were you I'd consider adding something to the experience of being in FNQ by, as someone has already suggested, doing a liveaboard, or perhaps a 3 day cruise southbound, or go to Lizard Island.
9 days in Port Douglas is a bit over the top.
There are other possibilites but it's your holiday and if you want to split your time solely between Sydney and Port Douglas then that's obviously what appeals to you.
I would make the split 4/8 rather than 3/9 - Sydney merits more than 2 full days, I think.
Have a great time.
