In and around Sydney

Visiting Sydney on June 28. We will be spending 4 nights in Sydney and 1 night in Blue mountain. We then have an extra 3-4 days as we are now not travelling to Cairns

Just read through a bit about the Pacific highway drive . We love good scenic drives along the coastal ways, green and scenic paths, maybe mountains along, waterfalls and natural beauty , lakes etc though not interested in wineries and history and desserts.

What options we have and how can we combine them together.

From there on we would go to the Gold Coast for around 5 nights

Thanks

By pacific highway I mean after Blue mountain drive and stay in area like Southern highland, Wollongong, Kiama, Bowral, jer is bay and back. Or maybe we can go to Gold Coast directly rather than returning to Sydney, though not sure about the route

We spent just one night in the Southern HIghlands and liked it alot. We could have easily spent a couple more. We also went to the coast from there and it was a fantastic drive and not far. I htink I mentioned my TR and you can find our thoughts and what we did in there.

As you are already in th Blue Mountains, why not do something off the beaten track & explore the Central West? Start with a night at Jenolan Caves & then head to Canowindra, Orange & out to Dubbo, where the wonderful Open Plains Zoo is located. Come back via Mudgee & the Bells Line of Road.

Look up Visit NSW - go to the Blue Mountains and then Central West tags.

These are all good suggestions, it's hard to go wrong... Another good route that I've proposed a few times goes like this (you can make it as many days as you wish, minimum three):

Down the coast to Batemans Bay (lots of nice spots on the way),

inland to Queanbeyan (cheaper to stay than Canberra) and visit Canberra.

Past Golbourn and Taralga to Jenolan Caves (take your time, bring a jacket, it's cold in there, and good shoes, it's a real hike). Pick your cave according to time and fitness.

Maybe spend the night right there, or in Oberon, or in Katoomba (quite a drive).

Then up into the pretty wine country of the Hunter Valley, via a splendid country drive (via Putty). East to The Entrance and down into Sydney.
