I'm dreamin of the Cook Islands for our anniversary next December

My husband and I are planning a vacation to the cook islands next December. we will be staying a bit of time at both Roratonga and Atutaki. We have so many questions that could pertain to either island, so here goes: * We've been told that it is a bit cooler in December, would holding off until March or going earlier in September be better? * What about jelly fish, are they around more certain times of the year? *We absolutely love to snorkel so where would be the best place to stay and enjoy this right out our front door.? * How does the snorkeling compare to Figi, Roatan, or Caymans. Is the coral as fantastic? Looking forward to your input! Thanks, Theresa and Larry

I'm going to Rarotonga and Aitutaki in a few weeks time, so I've been doing all the same research myself. It sounds like Aitutaki is the place for snorkelling and water activities.

Who ever told you is totally wrong - December is hotter than the other months. Can't say I remember any particular time for jelly fish - ever. They aren't that common for the most part, and I don't think there is much of a seasonal issue with them. The far bigger issue than time of year is the location if it's in or out of the ocean current. Closer to current means closer potential to fish. (from jelly fish to sharks) The more remote Aitutaki will probably be better snorkeling. You'll have to look at the resort specifics to find one "right out side the door". I think you mean Fiji. I never went snorkeling really, but from those that do - Fiji in places has far better snorkeling, but definitely not every where. Certain it's not as good as the Mariannas/Palau and places in Solomon's. I have never heard of Roatan, but Caymans and most Carribeab with good snorkeling supposedly has better variety of fish.
