IF YOU ARE COLD AND BALMY TROPIC NIGHTS ARE ON YOUR MIND - THIS IS THE LATEST INFORMATION ON WHATS GREAT THERE!

I was reading up on the GBR Cairns area with thought of a nice balmy tropic trip sometime during the cold winter ( cold is a relative term in Australia) of the south when I found an article on travel to Cairns and Travel awards etc.
It appears that our ONE AND ONLY PAT WOOLFORD FROM LILLYBANK B&B has won a hospitality tourism award!
Well CONGRATULATIONS MIKE AND PAT I am sure you won't mind if I let the folks on Fodors know of your win! Keep up the good work and hopefully I will get up there sometime to join in with a celebration tipple or two with you.

You mean the Boris Schmucklers of this world?
I don't know why the name sticks but it does.
Also heard that the restaurant down the road - The Garden Room Restaurant - some 2 minutes away from Lilybank has been touted as one of the best in Cairns and has a great following with the locals. The big winner was an Aboriginal who is more than happy with his award and the honour of it - Good for him and good for Mike and Pat and the folks of the Restaurant. Keep up the great work folks and congratulations on your awards.

Congrats Pat! I am going to be up in Cairns on July 19. But we are going to be staying at my boyfriend's sister's house. If it gets too cramped (his mom and dad are coming too) we'll give you a call!

I have been doing some research on the area, since it has been awhile since I have been there, and really want to thank you for all you hae done to contribute to this forum. Thanks for all!

Oh I do have to agree about the Garden Room Restaurant, it is so good. When I was staying with friends in Cairns we went about 4 times and were so pleased with it.
It is great because it is not in the tourist area and therefore is a genuine restaurant for the locals so if you want some good food then this place is certainly the one to go to.
