I went to Heron Island for 6 days. At the right time, you can witness turtles come on shore to lay eggs, the small hatchlings leave the nest, witness multitude of nesting Noddy Terns, get woken up during the night from the hooting of nesting mutton birds, snorkel on the fringing reef from outside your bungalow and go scuba diving on the reef. But to be there at the right time requires some planning. To this end I have written an illustrated report including maps at http://www.artphototravel.net/the-pacific/heron-island-australia/
Heron Island, best time
