Hmm.., December/January? It seems to be during their storm season. We have only been there in July and were told that the damages to the resorts were due to a December storm...

Presuming you are coming from the USA, your arrival there will probably be in the wee hours in the morning. Since Tahiti island itself is not usually the reason you are going to the FP, stay in Tahiti just enough to adjust international-inter island flight schedule as well as your body clock.

Many folks go straight to other islands but, that was too much for us with children, so we checked into a hotel in Tahiti, slept in late, took a quick trip around the island and flew to Moorea the next day.

For the first visit, you probably should visit Moorea and Bora Bora. There are flights between these two islands.

Moorea is the more developped of the two. It is also the island as depicted in the movie "South Pacific" (not as pointed as in the movie, however.) You can make a quick trip around the island. We rented a car for a day and it was a snap. After that, you probably spend most time at the beach, in the lagoon, or visiting motu. We stayed at the Parkroyal.

Bora Bora provides a breathtaking lagoon; more extensive than Moorea. We stayed in HOtel Bora Bora and enjoyed eating breakfast every morning in the dining room with a panoramic view of the lagoon. There are even less places to visit on land there. Most of the activities will be water based.

Next time we would probably spend more time visiting motus (tiny islands near the barrier reef) in Bora Bora as well as other small islands.

Hmm, well do you know of any warm wather destinations that I can go to around that time, it doesn't necessarily have to be in the Pacific, but any recommendations would be helpful.

I just retured from Moorea and the weather was beautiful-I will write more in a different area so you can read it there. Definitely go-it was my favorite vacation of all!
