French Polynesia Honeymoon Advice

We are planning a June 2000 honeymoon on Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti. We have done research and are looking at some package deals. Prior to booking we would like some first hand opinions!

Airlines: Anyone fly on AOM or Air Tahiti Nui? Good, bad, or you feared for your life? Seems like all the packages use one or the other.

Hotels: Sofitel, LeMeriden or Park Royal? Are overwater bungalows really the way to go? How about meal plans?

Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Although I do not have first-hand experience, I have friends that travelled to all three of these destinations about eight years ago. The trip got excellent reviews and the pictures were absolutely breathtaking. While on Bora Bora Island, they stayed at Hotel Moana Beach which has the overwater bungalows. The only complaint I can recall is that there were limited menus and eating facilities, but this may have changed since then. Congratulations and I hope this helps!

Lee,
My husband and I did all three places for our honeymoon almost five years ago. The most beatiful places on earth! We did club Med on Moreara and Bora Bora and would highly recommend it service was excellent, food was great and good nightlife and they cater to honeymooners. Moorea had the most to offer as far as being a bit bigger. Bora Bora was very basic and not much to do but do rent out some scooters, you can see the whole island in an afternoon. Tahiti we stayed at the Beachcomber it was ok but not as nice as club med and more touristy. For the money I'd stay at Club Med, all inclusive and private. AOM is veeerrry cramped seating in coach we did it but would not do it again. 8 hours on a plane next to a guy from Bora Bora that did not like coming to the states because he had to wear shoes! You get the picture. Upgrade to at least business, it will be worth the extra money. The Air Moorea smallllllll plane but seemed ok (I work with aircraft mechanics) and you will have to take a ferry to Bora Bora because the island is too small to build a runway so they fly you to another island that it's only purpose is for runway and docking for the ferry. Good news the ferry trip is breathtaking! We spent 12 days on these islands and am anxious to go back. Happy planning!

I have just returned from an in-depth hotel inspection in the islands of Tahiti and was my first time for flying the new Airline Air Tahiti Nui. The service was good and Business class is excellent with lots of leg room. If you can afford business class I would defiantly recommend it is worth it on an 8-hour flight. One of the nice features about Air Tahiti Nui is that it leaves at 1:00 p.m. and you are in Tahiti that evening at 6:30 p.m.. You can now also transfer directly over to Moorea when you arrive. Sofitel, Le Meridian & Parkroyal Hotels are all top good hotels and just a matter of choice and location. Le Meridien Hotel on Bora Bora is on it's own private motu while the Sofitel and Parkroyal are on the main island of Bora Bora. Meal plans I usually recommend not to buy ahead of time as it is of not benefit to you. Also why lock yourself into the hotel for all your meals when there are other options. Please email or call for more information and great package pricing to the islands. 800.548.5331 http: //www.solace1.com
