Foodies Heading to Sydney Looking for Delicious Eats and Nightlife

My bestie and I are heading to Sydney in February (sure, this post is a tad early, but can you blame a gal for being excited?). We've got some good guide books but are hoping to get the skinny on new, delicious eateries (I'm gluten free but can usually find stuff anywhere) and maybe even some nightlife.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!!

My favourite restaurants in Sydney in no particular order are:

Spice Temple (excellent modern Asian), est (mod Oz), Tetsuyas (Japanese), Billy Kwongs (modern Chinese), Spice I am (excellent cheap Thai), Golden Century (Chinese seafood speciality, Sopra (Italian only open for lunch).

Hi Susan,
Had a sublime white anchovy, cherry tomato & fennel salad at Sopra last week. Squisita!

Have you been to Sepia?

Hi Bokhara,
That sounds absolutely delicious. I haven't been to Sepia yet, but it's on my list!

If you go to Tetsuya's you should book a few months in advance. Is it worth it? I'd say worth doing once, anyway, the degustation menu is superb. But at $210pp it should be, of course.

Hi Susan and Bokhara !

Melissa I love Pier at Rose Bay( seafood )although it is going to become less formal but it will still be wonderful .Set on the water and so perfect for a lovely lunch . Try any of the cafes along Macleay Street Potts Point and it is also a good spot to wander .

Hi Fitz! How was Bali?

Melissa, L'etoile,(Paddington), Four in Hand (in a pub in Paddington) Assiette (Surry Hills), Becasse (City).
Aqua Dining (North Sydney) - great views back to the city and excellent food.

I like all of these - had a very good dinner at LeEtoile last week. French bistro, lots of regulars. www.letoilerestaurant.com.au

Hi Fitz! Another vote for Four in Hand, also in a pub in Paddington, Grand National.

Just a few others: Glebe Point Diner (Glebe), Onde (Kings Cross, excellent comfort food), Jimmy Liks (Victoria st, Kings Cross).

Bali was fabulous , in fact so good I went back 3 weeks later for another week to pay a surprise visit to a dear friend who was flying in from USA to work there for the first time for about 1 week ,and since returning I have booked next years ticket for June as Jetstar had a sale on for Starclass for $1006.63 ! Super bargain .
