Too true, farrermog. You have to feel sorry for the folks up North Queensland way. With no sign of the rain letting for another few days they must be feeling pretty wet and miserable.

Now down south we've had all the emails of koalas and kangaroos seeking water. My sister sent me an email today showing a photo of a cyclist helping a koala on the side of the road and the koala was drinking straight of his water bottle!!!! Gosh it must be hot.

I love a sunburnt country
A land of sweeping plains
Of ragged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains

It's part of what makes us who we are!

This will not stop people posting, "The further north you go the hotter it gets of course," in the future.

Sympathies to those adversely affected.

Thanks for that link Susan. Maybe I've been in the burbs too long but that is the most amazing thing I've seen!

I thought cyclists were supposed to look all slinky and sexy in their tights.
These guys must be Koala hunters and the Koala having a shower looks sexier!

I think the word Salty is humidity, more to get the closer to the equator - the line about 12 degrees north of Darwin, runs just about through Singapore.
You could use Koala showa as a northern mascot!

There's even more over-heated koala images from SA on News Ltd:

52.7 on my back veranda today with lots of dust and wind. We have a dutch exchange student who has not moved from the couch all day.

Today is being claimed as the hotest day on record. Don't you just love the Australian weather!!

52.7? Are you serious Karen? I haven't seen temps like that since I left Kuwait. Where do you live?

Glad you enjoyed the pictures Stormbird, I like the one of the pool drinking koala.

Poor Karen! Wow that's hot, it's supposed to get to 45 out in the western suburbs of Sydney. It's currently only 34 here in the inner west.
