Families in fiji

Hi we have 3c (5,5,6 yrs) and would like to know what is considered the ultimate in family accom in Fiji, what is the best value and if you're after a mainland / island combo what is ideal. Currently considering fijian, outrigger, naviti, and sheraton denaro and on islands either castaway, reef resort, and plantation.Any tips greatly appreciated as this is once in a life time trip for us.

Hi there. I would have to say from much experience that the best place for kids in the mid price range would be Castaway. The reasons are simple....Kids can enjoy the culture, cuisine, and activities all at no extra cost. The rooms or Bures are charged per night per Bure not per person. Castaway has a beautiful beach and good food. The staff are among the friendliest in all of Fiji. If you wanted to do a mainland and off shore combo, then the best value would be Castaway and Outrigger. Outrigger is another great "big" resort. But at the Outrigger you will find more children and western activities...I hope this helps. Please ask additional questions.

Personally I'd forget the mainland bit - but if you do want to do that, probably the Fijian (although it is a long way from NAdi). Closer to Nadi the Sheraton has everything. For islands I'd suggest either Castaway or Navini. Navini is tiny - family run, the kids can run free with absolutly no chance of getting into trouble and like most Fiji resorts - all activities are included in the cost.

hi thanks for the info. We have got a good deal on the Sheraton Villas but to date Castaway seems a little expensive. Will look at Navini, have also considered Mana?

I'd be saying DONT consider Mana. It is huge, very ordinary, and not very nice. If Castaway is looking a little expensive - try Treasure. But do go and stay on an island - particularly with children. If you're booking from Aust - I'd try one of the packages available through travel agents. They're usually cheaper than booking direct.

Hi thanks again for the tip! Feel that Mana will dissapoint, am looking for special on a budget. Will I find treasure a little claustrophobic as it's so small and you have to eat always in the same place?

No it's not claustrophobic and eating in the same place for a few days is part of the charm - no decisions to be made!!!!
