My husband and I had such a wonderful time at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort, we want to go back to Tahiti and try something different. We feel like BB had everything we were looking for - beautiful water and beaches, nice and clean accommodations, etc. We are considereng the Te Tiare Resort on Huahine, but I've heard that Huahine can be dirtier w/ more pollution, not as scenic, etc. as BB. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. (We're open to other locales, if you have an opinion)
Does Huahine compare to Bora Bora?

We have not been to the general area for years but I think your info is right. There are not many places in the world that compare with Bora Bora. Just think 30 years ago it was much better. We are happy to hear that it is still good. I would suggest Fiji. A place that has a lot of charm is Matangi. http://www.MatangiIsland.com Or you might try a Blue Lagoon Cruise in Fiji. Go to http://www.bulafiji.com and look over that place. Nonetheless there is only one Bora Bora.
I haven't been to Huahine, but having visited Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti I can't imagine Huahine being bad. I think you'll find it even more laied back.
Try these sides for more info. Each has its own forum.

I've found Huahine to be cleaner than Bora Bora and never saw any type of pollution. Huahine also has less visitors which offers a wonderful opportunity to see the island unspoiled. Had a great time at the Te Tiare last March and will be going back this September.
It depends on where u stay. Huanhine is not "tourist attraction" it can be very rural. The Sofetel Huanine is VERY nice. The Beaches there are wonderful.
there is not any pollution persay in Huahine. Huahine is VERY senic. Both land and sea. We rented a car for 2 days after taking a "circle island tour" and really enjoyed ourselves.
