We were planning to do Pete's Daintree forest tour (based on recommendations from this forum). Unfortunately Pete can take only max 6 and we are 10 people. Any suggestions on which company we should do a private tour with? BTS? Gary's? Tony's? any suggestions?

Trek North has excellent guides and their vehicles take about 12-14 people max. www.treknorth.com.au tour CT1 for Cape Tribulation. They'll pick up in Cairns or Port Douglas (or anywhere in between). You get a great bbq lunch in a private tropical fruit orchard, too.
You can still do the tour with Pete if you don't mind splitting up for the drive. He offers something called Tag-a-long. For this you need to hire a 4WD, part of your group will drive in his vehicle, and the rest in the hire vehicle. Communication is via CB radio. Should you rather go with one of the other operators make sure to book the vehicle as a private charter. This will give you the freedom to do whatever you want to do.
You can go with Trek North, Gary's and BTS. Tony does not have larger vehicles, you would have to split up as his vehicles only take 6 passengers at a time.
What I would recommend, if you like Pete's tour, contact him and ask him what he could do for your group, otherwise inquire with the other operators on availability and price for a charter.
Either way, do that pretty well in advance, even now in late part of tourist season Pete is booked out for most of next week.
