Apia and Pago Pago are each a one-day stop on our cruise ship's route and we do not plan to take any of the ship's shore excursions. We're an older couple who will be happy just to get a sense of each place and of the people. What are we likely to find within walking distance or a short cab ride from their respective piers, please?
Fyi, we lived in Honolulu for a number of years so we're generally familiar with the South Pacific.
Thanks,
BigBlue

I don't know where the piers are located, but you can certainly walk the around the harbor in Apia and end at Aggie Grey's, one of the historic hotels of the South Pacific. I've also been to Pago Pago and there's not as much to see in the city center as there is in Apia, and its "downtown" is much smaller and less walkable. I posted photos, including several from both Apia and Pago Pago, in this forum in this thread
