Possibly will be planning a very last-minute improv trip to surprise my partner with in December.
Provided I can even find accommodations a few months out...I know nothing about where to stay/what to see.
Seems from the light research I've done so far everyone recommends either Rarotonga or Aitutaki or a combination of both.
If you had 5 nights to spend what would you do...Etu Moana is high up on my list.
Wondering if we should just stay there the whole time.
in brief: great snorkeling and good food would be two of the biggest priorities...looking forward to folks' input.
Thanks in advance!

We spent a week on Aitutaki in July and throughly enjoyed it. We didn't stay at Etu Moana, but wish that we had. It looks great and two couples that we met over there who were staying there spoke very highly of it.
Be sure to do the full day lagoon cruise. There are several operators running these and they all seem to follow a similar itinerary. We went with Puna on the "Yellow boat" and had a fantastic day.
We also did a leisurely pushbike ride around the island. It's not that far, and is a great way to see the place. Alternatively, you can hire motor scooters if you prefer the easy life!
