Hi, does anyone know of any budget accommodation, other that seedy hostels, in the central area of Melboure? As far out as Fitzroy or Carlton would be fine.

Hi Billy, Try Hotel Y in the c.b.d. close to Victoria Markets or Arden Hotel a little further out. If you have the time, come visit us in Adelaide, we'll show you value for money! Enjoy your stay.

I've used the Victoria Hotel in Little Collins Street several times.
Some of the rooms are small and pretty ordinary, but a great location, right behind the Town Hall. As ever, prices vary with the standard of room.
Billy, the Hotel Ibis, near Queen Victoria Market, has some pretty good specials. It's on the outer edge of the CBD.
